Lets talk about Dip Dye ♡

I recently decided to dip dye my hair as I’ve been wanting to do it for a while but I always seemed talk myself out of it but I gradually got the courage and decided to bite the bullet and just go for it! I think the main reason why I was hesitant is because I didn’t want to ruin my extensions as most of you already know that I have a weave. If you don’t know what that it is and you want to find out more about the type of my extensions then you can .. (click here) to find out!

Anyway moving on! I dyed my hair extensions at work, first by bleaching them and then I used the Dark and Lovely hair dye in Brown Cinnamon to achieve the colour I wanted. I wanted to go for a similar colour as to the picture below and although the colour of my hair is slightly lighter i'm still really happy with the outcome too say I bleached the extensions there still super soft!

Top tips for bleaching hair extensions

When you bleach your own natural hair or hair extensions there’s always that big risk of  damaging the hair, as bleach tends to make hair feel really rough and brittle. However fortunately for me by some miracle that wasn’t the case so I really want to share my top tips with you!

Tip #1- Don’t leave the bleach on for too long! Some people fall into the trap of leaving the bleach on their hair extensions for far too long. You shouldn’t leave the bleach in your hair for any longer than 45 minutes because after this the bleach actually stops working and your hair/ hair extensions become at risk of getting damaged!

Tip 2#- Time your self! Have a timer or even a watch at hand so you can time yourself.

Tip 3#- Shampoo and condition. This is probably one of the most important steps and it’s probably the reason as to why my hair came out so soft. For shampoo I used NuNAAT Kertain Treatment, Deep moisturizing shampoo. This really helped soften and moisturise my hair extensions and I followed this up by using the NuNAAT Deep conditioner. This helped add a nice natural shine to my hair as sometimes when you dye your hair it makes the hair look dry and crispy and it needs that reboost to help it look healthy again.

Tip 4#- Avoid using too much heat! Once you’ve dyed your hair extensions try to avoid using too much heat. For me I decided to put my hair extensions in the steamer/dryer (that’s one of those fancy things that sophisticated woman tend to sit under with rollers in their hair)  this drys the hair quickly without putting heat directly onto the hair.

Tip 5# Get rid of those dead ends! By getting rid of those scraggy dead ends you’re on your way to having fabulous hair, dead ends prevent the hair from growing but if you’re dying your hair extensions then dead/split ends don’t really matter since hair extensions can’t grow!

There my top tips for bleaching hair extensions! I hope there of some use to you all and if any of you decide to go for the dip dye look let me how you get on x

What do you guys think of my new dip dye look? Do you guys like it, or do you think I should of stayed to a natural colour? Let me know what you think x

  9. These are very helpful tips, Jessica. Dyeing them is a good option to recycle your hair extensions. Most people will put them aside and buy another one if they wanted a different color or style. But in my opinion this will also depend on the quality of the hair extension, because no one knows what will be the effect of the dyed extension to your scalp.

    1. Totally agree, you have to have 100% human hair to be able to dye it otherwise it just won't work x

  14. You are so lucky that you got adorable hair. You look gorgeous both in natural & dip-dye. I think you shouldn't bleach your own hair. Who wants to damage her natural hair, isn't it risky too?

By the way, I am a beauty specialist from UK and provide quality hair extensions. I just want to know your thoughts about my hair extensions. Do, you think

they are good enough to satisfy stylish girls like you?
