NETFLIX Is not a date #Love&Relationships

I don't know what has inspired me to write this post but it's probably due to the exhaustion of countless "boys" living in some bizarre fantasy land that a girl coming round to his to watch "Netflix" and to "chill" ( and I use that word lightly I really do) is some sort of first date. Now call me what you may, but how on earth is your monthly subscription of £5.99 and your bed in your bedroom an ideal perfect date?

In my head an ideal perfect date isn't you taking me to some fancy restaurant or anything remotely lavish, it's something silly, like going to play crazy golf or going on a bike ride where they'd probably have to teach me how to ride the bloody thing since I haven't the foggiest. A Date is not "Come over and lets watch Netflix." Its "I'll pick you up at 7".The point that I'm trying to make is a first date is where I can get to know a lot more about you, not where you think it's ok to try and have a quick hit and run.

You no, I'm all about the honesty and if that's all you want, then why not be upfront and just say it? Trust me I'm a big girl I can take it who knows a quick hit and run could be what a girl is after too, I on the other hand do not work that way but some people do, both girls and boys and y'know what, that's entirely up to them but what I cannot stand is to be made to feel that all I'm worth is a invite round yours to watch Netflix because I am worth a lot more than that and in my eyes it's just complete utter laziness on the boys behalf but then again maybe it's not, maybe he's just not that into you because surely if he was, wouldn't he put a lot more effort in thinking of something good other than suggesting what every other brainless clueless boy suggest? But then again "Netflix"and "chilling" on a first date is just becoming the norm nowadays so I guess the real question is when did boys stop trying or maybe what we should be asking is  when did us girls start to set our standards so low?

  1. I totally agree with you! I want to go to the beach or out for tea or something! Netflix is for those days, maybe, when it's absolutely pouring down with rain and have had mini golf rained off.

  3. GOD, YES.

I think the Netflix thing only works when you've been dating for a while and you honestly want to spend the day doing nothing - WITH SOMEBODY. Yeah it's cute, you cuddle, watch something (or not...) but I'd never go on a first date if it was like that...

I don't get why the people get those low standards from. Tumblr has romanticised that idea, it's where I first saw it, so I blame that.

  4. I can't agree with you more! Preach! A lot of the times I find myself wondering what type of women these dudes have dealt with in the first place to make them feel this is acceptable. It's one thing if we are together cool we can have a night in... but first date!? Nope.

  5. Preach sister!! You're right!! Yea first date has be to grand, because you're here to impress. Grand doesn't mean spending lots of money, be creative with it. Staying home and chilling with netflix is when y'all already in the comfort zone.

  7. I think boys and girls changed their perspectives about dating. I think that should be changed because you can't have a relationship by watching and not talking. So yeah I totally agree that Netflix is not a date.

  10. I didn't even know that Netflix date is a thing now! :D
Luckily where I live, traditional dates are still more popular, though a lot of times they are a bit cliche as well, for example going to see movies at cinema! I mean, what is the point of a movie date as first date? It is impossible to interact and get a better idea of the person you have gone on a date with! :D

  11. This post made me giggle :) I agree, Netflix is such a bad first date- what a lack of effort on the guys part. Netflix is more of a gross PJ day thing you do when you're in a long term relationship haha

  12. Ugh, guys need to up their game! Maybe Netflix is becoming a norm for a date but if a guy really likes a girl, then he shouldn't go for the norm!!

  14. Netflix is definitely not a first date, I completely agree with you. I would not be impressed if I got offered Netflix - just shows how little effort they are willing to put into you, like would I really want to end up in a relationship with that guy?!

  15. I 101% agree with this - netflix as a first date is NOT an option.... I prefer something like mini golf or bowling, something silly and fun where you can get to know a person... this generation is so lazy because of technology its awful!
