Dare to go bare? The no make-up selfie

 

For those of you who check Facebook regularly you will know that all of a sudden the no make- up selfie craze has hit Facebook with women of all ages braving to go bare in order to raise awareness for Cancer. The way in which these women including myself have been trying to raise awareness is by cleaning off our make-up and taking a selfie and posting it on a social media site and nominating other women to do the same.

Whilst I think its incredibly brave for these women to do so, as many women suffer with low self-esteem… so by asking them to take off their makeup and take a picture for lots of people to see it is a big thing! HOWEVER I can’t help but feel that LOTS of people are missing the whole point of the no- makeup selfie?

People have been saying that taking a photo of yourself with no makeup on doesn’t raise any money? Which in actual fact isn't true! The fact that these girls are brave enough to do so and many of them have actually donated money whether it has been a £1 or £3 or £5 it doesn't matter as every penny really does help and by people who have been doing the no-make up selfie in order to raise awareness have made it possible for Cancer Research UK to receive 1 million in just 24 hours! Cancer Research UK have received more than 800,000 text donations since it began sharing the text code for donating on its Facebook and Twitter pages yesterday!

I definitely think that this no-makeup trend has been a much beneficial one as it has been much more productive and useful unlike other viral trends that we have seen throughout the year so far.
